Mabuhay kayo Janet, Noelle and Carina

Mabuhay ang Pinay! Congratulations to Janet Belarmino, Noelle Wenceslao, Carina Dayondon for being the first Asean women to ever traverse Mt Everest from Tibet to Nepal. See their story posted on Mt.Everest.net.

Sobra talaga ako natuwa at napuno ng pag asa na maka akyat pa uli sa mga pangarap ko na bundok ( I was filled with hope that I might be able to climb my dream mountains). I was so inspired by these women specially Janet Belarmino who is also a mother.

This news I got from Kaya ng Pinay. The complete story from
ABS-CBNNews.com.

The first Filipino women to reach the summit of Mount Everest set another world record Friday by becoming the first women to traverse the two main routes to the world's highest mountain.

Noelle Wenceslao, Carina Dayondon and Janet Belarmino reached Everest Base Camp (EBC) in Nepal before 6 p.m. Manila time where they were welcomed by the Philippine support group.

Belarmino sobbed as she recounted the ordeal of climbing the mountain months after she gave birth to her first baby.

"Napakahirap kaya masaya ako na makakabalik na kami…. medyo pagod lang kasi mahaba ang trek namin pero OK lang kami. [Wala kaming] sakit. Wala namang problema (It was very difficult that is why I'm glad that we can now come back… it was tiring because the trail was quite long but we’re OK. We are not sick. There have been no problems)," she told radio DZMM.

Belarmino said that her feat also showed that motherhood does not prevent anyone from pursuing her dreams.

"Iyon din mensahe ko sa mga ina na tulad ko. Ang mga pangarap namin ay hindi natutulog sa apat na sulok ng kwarto. Iyong mga panaginip natin bilang ina, kailangan natin ipakita sa buong mundo na kaya din natin (It's also my message to mothers like me. Our dreams are not confined in four corners of the room. Let’s show the whole world that we can also do it)," she added.

lato

Lato or "sea grapes". First time I tasted this wonderful food from the sea is in Taganak, Island Tawi Tawi. Best served with lime or vinegar, the lato melts in your mouth. This batch I got it here in QC one evening I saw it in the fish market. I know that it melts when it is not fresh. This one was just off the basket coming from the province. I asked the vendor where it came because you can only find these kind in the islands or in Palawan. She said that it just came in from Lucena. I was thankful that we were able to have this salad at the dinner table for only 20 pesos. So happy! The last time I had lato for dinner was at Ka Lui in Puerto Princessa.

Mt. Kanlaon

Old photos from Mt Kanlaon traverse climb. The trail we took was from La Carlota to Mambucal. Rainy days and muddy trails remind me of this climb. But it was one of the most incredible climbs I experienced. There was this portion where there was almost 45 degrees incline hiking up for hours then in the middle of all this fog a clearing greeted us. As if a sceen from the Shire, manicure green, green grass with landscaped ferns and bushes. It is all natural with a backdrop of mist and thin rain falling in our faces and adding weight to our already heavy packs. The sight of which gave us our second wind to keep on hiking in the rain.

North Park noodles

One of our favorite food in North Park. I love the salted squid :) their fragrant noodles are great! I wish I can cook something like this in the outdoors. Well let see in the future :)
